Medi-Cal cuts could have a painful ripple of consequences There are no easy answers for California's budget crisis. Take the example of the 10% cuts in Medi-Cal reimbursements, which have already been put in place. The cuts may or may not be rescinded as the budget process grinds on, but the damage that could occur is considerable.

This bill gave legislators a break from real business of lawmaking State Sen. Elaine Alquist, D-Santa Clara, obviously has too much time on her hands. There's no other explanation for her frivolous student "prize-for-performance" bill.
